Lydia Wiernik, Editor
University of Edinburgh
Lydia (they/them) is a second-year undergraduate studying linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. As a quadrilingual and counting, they have always been fascinated by language, but linguistics is where their passion lies. Their research interests include prosody and Deaf linguistics, with a focus on the cognitive processes behind them. When not sorting through the ULAB archives, they can be found archiving for Dr. Dan Gunn’s soon to be published biography. In their spare time, they are an avid bug collector and Keats enthusiast, and will lecture about both unprompted if you’re not careful. -
Liam McKnight, Head of the Board of Reviewers
University of Cambridge
Liam is an MPhil (by Thesis) linguistics student on a 1+3 PhD programme at the University of Cambridge, whose interests lie in phonology, historical syntax and the Celtic languages. They also enjoy writing language puzzles for various Linguistics Olympiads, and when not doing linguistics they can be found playing squash, playing chess or cooking something (but not at the same time). -
Hafren Vaughan, Associate Editor (Oversight)
University of Aberdeen
Hafren, [hafɹən] or [havrɛn], is a second-year undergraduate Language & Linguistics student at the University of Aberdeen. She loves everything to do with language, but is particularly interested in theoretical linguistics - especially morphology and syntax! When she's not studying, you will probably find her memorising kanji, playing Nintendo games or listening to Hello! Project songs. -
Núria Bosch Masip, Associate Editor (Production)
University of Cambridge
Núria (she/her) is a final-year Linguistics undergraduate at St John’s College, Cambridge. She’s particularly interested in theoretical, comparative and diachronic syntax and its intersection with language acquisition. But her linguistic interests are very broad, so you will often spot her reading about human cognition, computational linguistics and theories of language. She’s also been very committed to access and outreach initiatives during her time at university. When not doing linguistics, she enjoys learning languages, coding, graphic design and travelling. -
James Morley, Associate Editor (Academic)
University of Cambridge
James (he/him) is a second-year undergraduate linguistics student at the University of Cambridge. His main interests are in generative syntax, especially locality and case and agreement phenomena - though he also enjoys phonology. Outside linguistics, he enjoys quizzes, and never misses the chance to watch fast cars drive round in circles. -
Simran Hussain, Secretary
University College London
Simran is a second year undergraduate linguistics student at University College London. Her interests lie in pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and philosophy of language. At the moment, she is interested in the pragmatic comprehension of dog whistles. Outside of her studies, she can be found attending concerts and reading Sappho. -
Beatrix Livesey-Stephens, Copyeditor
University of Aberdeen
Bea (she/her) is a final year Language & Linguistics student at the University of Aberdeen. She is particularly interested in linguistic anthropology, specifically pertaining to gaming and fantasy, and any other linguistic randomness you can find in weird places. She has too many ideas for papers and not enough energy, although she hopes to start her corpus projects about email signoffs and custom Slackbot notifications at some point in 2022. -
