Editorial Committee
The JoULAB Editorial Committee is responsible for the production and publication of the Journal of the Undergraduate Linguistics Association of Britain (JoULAB). It consists of a day-to-day operations team (consisting of the Editor, the Head of the Board of Reviewers, the Associate Editors, and the Secretary), a copyediting team (consisting of a Copyeditor and several Associate Copyeditors), and the Board of Reviewers.

Lydia Wiernik, Editor
University of Edinburgh
Lydia is a fourth-year undergraduate studying linguistics at the University of Edinburgh, whose research interests include Deaf linguistics and neurolinguistics. Outside of linguistics, Lydia is an avid bug collector and Keats enthusiast, and will lecture unprompted about both if you’re not careful. -
Nicolás Arellano, Head of the Board of Reviewers

Nicolás (he/him) is a doctoral Linguistics student at the University of Buenos Aires. His main interests are in Spanish grammar, Historical Linguistics, and Second Language Acquisition. Aside from his studies, he enjoys listening to Brazilian pop music and he desperately tries not to let the plants at his apartment die. -
Roma Dhasmana, Associate Editor (Oversight)
University of Aberdeen
Ro is a fourth-year Linguistics undergrad at the University of Aberdeen. Their research interests primarily centre around linguistic construction of marginalised identities; particularly disability and transness; and its implications within fanfiction, feminism, and sociophonetics. When they’re not vibrating at the speed of light about linguistics, they can usually be found cross-stitching, embroidering, occasionally knitting, playing piano, and listening to spooky podcasts. Their goals for this year include finally getting started on their neverending list of linguistic projects, and trying to read the 90+ academic articles they’ve bookmarked… -
Núria Bosch Masip, Associate Editor (Academic)
University of Cambridge
Núria (she/her) is an MPhil (by Thesis) Linguistics student at St John’s College, Cambridge. She’s particularly interested in theoretical, comparative and diachronic syntax and its intersection with language acquisition. But her linguistic interests are very broad, so you will often spot her reading about human cognition, computational linguistics and theories of language. She’s also been very committed to access and outreach initiatives during her time at university. When not doing linguistics, she enjoys learning languages, coding, graphic design and travelling. -
Lucy Bartholomew, Associate Editor (Production)
University of York
Lucy is a second-year undergraduate student who is studying English Language and Linguistic Science at the University of York. Her main focuses include historical linguistics and diachronic morphosyntax, but she’s also interested in the study of dead languages. Outside of academia she enjoys songwriting, reading Jane Austen novels, and listening to Taylor Swift (a lot). -
Tiffany Li, Secretary
University of Edinburgh
Tiffany (she/her) is a third-year undergraduate linguistics student at the University of Edinburgh. Her research interests primarily centre around forensic linguistics, language acquisition and sociolinguistics. Aside from her study, she can be found listening to classic rock songs and reading about Egyptian mythology. She is also an exotic pet lover with a particular interest in kingsnakes and tarantulas. -
Alice Duncan, Copyeditor
University of Sussex
Alice is a third year undergraduate linguistics student at the University of Sussex. Most of her recent work has focussed on phonetics, phonology and cognition, specifically in regards to taboo language. She also has a strong interest in gender presentation and reception in language, particularly where there is an intersection with disability and chronic illness. Outside of linguistics she loves cooking, cocktails and getting lost in new and exciting places. -
Alice Eddyshaw, Associate Copyeditor

Alice is a third year Linguistics and German student at The University of Manchester. Some of her favourite areas of linguistics are cognitive linguistics, psycholinguistics and pragmatics, although she has yet to find an area of linguistics that she doesn’t find interesting! Alice’s interests include music, theatre (tech.) and various different crafts. She loves to travel whenever the opportunity arises and can usually be found thinking about or discussing anything that is typically labelled as ‘deep’. -

Ilias (he/they) is pursuing their Master's degree in Linguistics at the University of Leipzig. Their main interests are in Syntax-Semantics-Morphology and Psycho- and Neurolinguistics, especially when it comes to Language Processing and Production. While Linguistics is a passion of them, they also love performing in shows and partying, but also sitting at home with a cup of strawberry infused tea watching a series. -

Laura (she/her) is a third-year undergraduate linguistics student at the University of Buenos Aires, and she is passionate about graphic design. She likes phonetics and fonts, but she will read and be enthusiastic about anything. She is also a board game geek.
